“The Suitor”

Act One; Part 2

After a tiring day of rejecting useless suitors, the Heiress enters her bedchamber with her servants in tow. She carelessly strips away her jewelry and attire, expecting her lackeys to pick up and sort the mess. Once the room is clean and settled with the overwhelming gifts from her gentlemen callers, the Heiress dismisses the help. After the servants leave, she begins to panic - she’s just run out of prospects for a suitor and she’s not getting any younger! She studies the age spots on her hands and wrinkles growing on her face, closely expecting her reflection in her vanity mirror when she spies something behind her that she’s certain she already got rid of… the damaged jewelry box. She wastes no time; she grabs the box, throws open her bedroom window, and throws the eyesore down into the shrubbery below. She dusts off her hands in victory before tripping over something on the floor.
